Dear South Amboy Residents:

Our crews are making great progress with the construction on Smith St and are anticipated to be complete before the holidays. The last step of construction is to disconnect the old main and tie-in the new one. This involves a 24-36hr period where South Amboy will be supplied pushing water from the “bottom up” instead of the normal flow under the river. During this last step South Amboy may experience slightly reduced water pressure. Fire flows will be maintained and in the case of emergency we will still have the ability to ramp up production. Most customers are not expected to notice a measurable change at all.

In advance of that last step, we are set to perform a simulated test of this condition at a much shorter interval with crews on standby. This is scheduled for next Tuesday December 9th 2025. We plan to start between 9 and 10am and continue for approximately 12hrs. No physical work is being performed for the test, and we can re-open the valves immediately if required.
